See the whole system

Learn to read the body as connected fascial lines, not isolated muscles — the lens that changes how you understand every movement.

Cue what you see

Turn anatomy into language clients feel. Think in lines, speak in images — the cueing approach that runs through the entire method.

Build on solid ground

The required foundation for all three certification pathways. Master it once, and everything that follows has somewhere to stand.

About the course

Most movement training starts with a list: this muscle does this, that exercise targets that. You memorize the parts and hope they add up to understanding. They rarely do — because bodies don't move in isolated parts. They move as a connected system, and the moment a real person in front of you doesn't match the textbook, a list of muscles has nothing to offer. Movement Foundations starts somewhere better. From day one, you'll learn to see the body the way it actually works — as continuous fascial lines that transmit force, share load, and tell a story from heel to head. This is the lens everything else in your certification is built on, and once you have it, you can't unsee it. Movement stops being a catalog of exercises to memorize and becomes something you can read. And reading it is only half the work — you have to be able to speak it. So alongside the anatomy, you'll build the skill that separates a good instructor from a forgettable one: cueing. Not scripts to recite, but the ability to turn what you see into language a client can feel in their own body. Think in lines, speak in images. That phrase will follow you through every module, and it begins here. This is foundational work, which means it's the most important work. The instructors who go furthest aren't the ones who collected the most exercises — they're the ones whose fundamentals are unshakable. Whether you're at the very start of your journey or you've taught for years and want to rebuild your base on something more solid, this is where you'll find your footing. You'll leave understanding not just what the body is doing, but why — and ready to support real people, with real histories, alongside the care teams who walk beside them. This is where every Studio Upgrade Academy instructor begins.

Brittaney Fortwendel

Brittaney is the founder of Studio Upgrade and the architect of Studio Upgrade Academy. For nearly two decades, she has specialized in the clients most movement professionals are taught to refer away — people navigating complex orthopedic, neurological, and post-surgical realities, who often arrive believing their bodies are broken and leave knowing they are not. That work demanded more than a standard certification could offer, so she built her expertise deliberately — pursuing advanced training in neuromuscular assessment and in movement for chronic and complex conditions, layered over years of hands-on practice with bodies that don't follow the textbook. Her conviction is simple, and it runs through everything she teaches — injury doesn't mean broken, and pain doesn't have to be forever. She created Studio Upgrade Academy to raise the standard of Pilates education itself: open, portable credentials built on real understanding rather than memorized routines. Her aim isn't to keep talent in-house, but to send genuinely skilled instructors into the field — professionals who can read the body, cue what they see, and support real people alongside their care teams, never in place of them. When you train with Brittaney, you're learning from someone who has spent her career proving that intelligent, thoughtful movement changes what people believe is possible for their bodies.
